The wildebeest migration is a unique movement of over 1.5 million of wildebeest accompanied by zebra and gazelles across Ndutu area Ngorongoro and Serengeti in Tanzania and Masai Mara. This natural movement of wild animals caused by rainfall patterns since they migrate to search water and green pasture each year.
When the short rains begin from November to December the migration begin to arrive Ndutu Area in Ngorongoro Conservation Area. During this time the wild animals dispersed across the Ndutu plains ready for the calving season to begin from February to March. Around April after the calving period the migration begin to move toward eastern part of Serengeti National Park.
From May to June the wildebeest migration proceed to move movement northwards reaching northern Serengeti around July to August. Around September the Wildebeest arrive to Masai Mara. Around October the wildebeest migration turn the movement toward south through eastern part of Serengeti to reach Ndutu Area in Ngorongoro during the short rains of November and December.
